Zachary Learns to Ride a Bike

Zach got a bike for Christmas, but today was the first we were able to have a go at it. It took him about 5 minutes to get the hang of it! Awesome job Zach!

At the Beach With Cousins

We had fun in California visiting with family. The kids had a blast playing with their cousins. We always love going to Laguna Beach when we visit. Hannah and Elisabeth decided to go window shopping with their cousins while the younger kids played in the sand and water. It wasn't as cold as I thought it would be, it was actually quite nice.

Update on Elisabeth

Well, we took Elisabeth up to Salt Lake City for her doctor's appointment. The neurologist didn't think that the cyst was causing her headaches. He said that if it was there would be other symptoms also, like balance and vision problems. He says that these kinds of cysts don't usually cause any problems and not to worry about it. Sooo he sent her home with some medicine for migraines and said that all was well.

Since we've been back her headaches have been drastically reduced so I think that the medicine is doing something. I still can't look at her MRI without thinking "How in the world can that thing not be messing up her brain?". But I guess you don't just jump into brain surgery unless it's really, really necessary. So we will just keep an eye on her for now and see how she does.

I am just so grateful right now that it isn't something really serious!

Elisabeth's Brain

We took Elisabeth to the doctor last week because of her frequent headaches. He ordered an MRI and they found a cyst on her brain. It's called an Arachnoid Cyst and it's not nearly as bad as a tumor. Some people have them their whole lives and never know about them. We have an appointment in two weeks with a neurologist in Salt Lake City. I'm not sure what he'll recommend. Sometimes they just watch it or she may have surgery to remove it. We'll just have to wait and see what he says, I guess. (You can see it best in the second picture where it looks like a big white area.)

Snow Canyon

Last Saturday we went to Snow Canyon, not far from our home. It's a great place for hiking, but best of all are the sand dunes!
